Cycling: How does London compare to other European cities?

London’s first segregated cycle track was introduced in London in 1934 by Leslie Hore-Belisha, a precursor Minister of Transport (he also introduced pedestrian crossings and 30 mph speed limit). Some have claimed that since that remarkable start, not much has been accomplished, and that London lags behind its European counterparts. In this article, we will compare London with other major European cities known for their bike-friendly policies or substantial efforts.
